Who Am I?

I'm Joshua Ogunjiofor

Content strategist and writer for ambitious businesses and entrepreneurs looking to cement their reputation as experts in their industry

I discovered my love for the written word when one evening, my father came home from work with his car packed to overflowing with books of all kinds. I was particularly fascinated with science books and growing up, I spent a fair bit of time at the school library. Now, I channel my love for words into creating content that passes your message across in the most effective way possible.

How a Failed Engineer Became a Writer

I mistook my fascination with science and engineering for passion and decided to go study engineering, despite being an excellent draftsman and nothing short of horrendous at math.

I was warned. But I didn’t listen. I thought I could do it without math (why the heck did I think that?) I was wrong (obviously).

Meanwhile, I did particularly well in my high school English essays and carried that special grace for words into my university years. Flash forward to my third year at university. I stumbled upon Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad and decided I wanted to be rich (like everyone else who’s read that timeless masterpiece). And thus began my journey into the world of business and finance. I became completely obsessed.

Two odd years later, I discovered that besides the larger-than-life tech entrepreneurs dominating financial media, real-life people were making a killing online in various niches. Some were freelancers. And among these freelancers were writers.

What? People paid to write? And handsomely too?

Because it comes naturally to me, I thought it was too easy and that no one would pay anyone to write anything for them; they’d just write it themselves. But the more I looked into it, the more convinced I was.

Anyway, long story short, here I am now, getting paid to write too. And for me, I enjoy every bit of what I do because it combines two things I love dearly: business and words.

Now that you know the short version of my story, I'm ready to help you educate, inform, and make a killing doing so.

When I’m not writing, I’m reading. Or playing the piano. Or drawing. Or making clothes. Or practising martial arts (I practise judo and karate, and occasionally pretend I’m in a movie fighting off 10 bad guys. Silly, I know). Yeah, I’m a veritable multipotentialite, and being a freelance writer is a blessing because it gives me enough time to do all the things I love.

I’m a guy who loves romcoms (there, I said it!). My favourite movie of all time is Coming to America. And The Proposal. Okay, that’s two movies.

I’m a night owl; I’m usually up past 2 am on most nights. And I haven’t seen Game of Thrones (are we still friends?).
